How To: Ultra VNC Silent install with a transparent tray icon.

Hi All, Me Again,

Here is a little handy How to on how to do I silent install of Ultra VNC via a logon script (Batch File) using a Modified UltraVNC
Installation where the Tray Icon has been made transparent – The full Zip containing the Modified files can be found on the link at the bottom of the page.

First lets start with the batch file, It’s really simple stuff, It basically just stops any existing winvncservice uninstalls then copies the modified files to Program files and starts the services after install.

To install:

- Simply Extract the Zip File.
- Copy the UltraVNC folder (found under the “Copy to network” folder within the Zip File) to a location on the network accessible to all workstation. (Advisable to make the share read only)
- Edit the Logon.bat Simply replace “ \\YOURSERVER\YOURSHARE\” with the path to the ultravnc folder.
- Install the Logon.bat as per your current logon scripts (Startup folders or GPO)

VERY Important!!! - To specify the UltraVNC logon password and other settings that will get rolled out with the rest of the files.
- Install the Full Version of UltraVNC (On YOUR machine only)
- Once its installed right-click on the UltraVNC icon > Select “Admin Properties”

- On the Admin Properties window config as per below specifying your own VNC Password.

- Click Apply and Ok.
- Navigate to your UltraVNC install directory on your computer and copy the ultravnc.ini file (This is your customised config file)
- Then Paste the file over the ultravnc.ini file contained on your network share”\\YOURSERVER\YOURSHARE\ultravnc\”

And that’s it your done. Simply use the UltraVNC Viewer to inspect silently on users activity.

I know you are saying this can be done via Silent install and Hiding the Tray Icon, BUT it does not work every time!
This solution does and is not visible to users. Dont forget to edit the Banner at the end of the logon.bat to suite your local Internet and email usage policy.
